Kendall Sheffield started his career out at Alabama as a five-star prospect before opting to transfer to Ohio State, potentially unhappy that he was redshirted as a freshman. Sheffield played one year at junior college before spending two season with the Buckeyes. He allowed a surprising amount of production there with opposing passer ratings of 90+ both years and five touchdowns in 2018. Sheffield hurt his pectoral at the combine, which kept him from testing, but his Pro Day measurables would have placed him in the top 10 among his peers. Was great at returning kicks at junior college and was timed running the fastest 60-yard dash in Ohio State history. Still, there’s work to be done to enhance his game.

“Inconsistent outside cornerback prospect with rare speed and explosiveness, but lacking the ball skills and instincts of an NFL cornerback. Sheffield has the twitch for ball production underneath and the long speed to handle vertical workers, but his inconsistency to find and play the football once it comes out of the quarterback's hands is problematic. Relative to his fluctuating career, his ceiling is fairly high thanks to his speed and explosiveness, but he needs to prove he’s more than just a fast guy.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
“Kendall Sheffield has some attractive qualities to his game, but he's got some significant concerns that will be difficult to reconcile if hoping to project him as a starter in the NFL. Sheffield has great quickness and the needed long speed to play on an island, but his footwork, physicality and ball skills are all lacking.
