For the second straight, a player named Josh Allen will be a first-round pick. This year’s version will be tasked with making the other Josh Allen – and every other fellow quarterback – miserable. Starting out as a basketball player, Allen, 21, was a late bloomer and didn’t generate much recruiting buzz. He started playing football early in high school as receiver but eventually hit his stride as a pass-rusher his senior year. Allen improved throughout his four-year Kentucky career to win the Lott Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award and SEC Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to All-American honors. Terrorized opposing offenses as a senior with 17 sacks and five forced fumbles. His sister, Myisha, plays for the Washington Mystics in the WNBA.
