A HISTORY OF RICK SPIELMAN'S DRAFT TRADES
JONATHAN GREENARD
HEIGHT/WEIGHT/AGE
6-foot-3
265 pounds
22 years old
BIG PICTURE
Jonathan Greenard was a nice player in his three active seasons at Louisville, but his decision to become a graduate transfer and go to Florida turned him into a budding star. Greenard missed 2018 with a wrist injury, became a Gator and surged through his final season with 10 sacks, three forced fumbles and a pick. Participated at the Senior Bowl and demonstrated fabulous agility in his combine drills to complete a solid pre-draft process.
COMBINE NOTABLES
4.87 40-yard dash
22 bench reps
30.5-inch vertical
113-inch broad jump
7.13 3-cone drill (2nd)
4.34 20-yard shuttle (T-3rd)
VIKINGS COMPATIBILITY RANKING
3.5 out of 5. Greenard could be available right in the wheelhouse where the Vikings tend to draft their defensive linemen: third or fourth round.
HIGHLIGHTS
WHAT DRAFT EXPERTS SAY
Lance Zierlein, NFL.com: "Athletic, intelligent edge defender with enticing flashes as both a run defender and pass rusher. Greenard's plus get-off and ability to bend and corner the edge are predictive traits for success as an NFL rusher but he'll need a more reliable go-to counter as a pro. He's tough and aware at the point of attack and plays with consistent leverage and motor. Edge defenders need forceful hands to set edges and open doors as a pass rusher and his hesitation to unleash his right hand after suffering a major wrist injury in 2018 is a concern. If his hesitation is more mental than physical, he should become an eventual starter in either an odd or even front."
Kyle Crabbs, Draft Network: "Jonathan Greenard projects as a starting base defensive end at the NFL level. With a powerful punch and great length, Greenard has a knack for setting the edge. Greenard pairs that stout presence with an effective inside set of counter moves as a pass rusher. He doesn't illustrate ideal bend of the edge, but Greenard has ability to collapse edges enough to soften his rush lane and be a persistent presence in the pass game from the outside. Still a bit raw due to lack of starts on account of injury."
