You’re probably picturing a 6-foot-8, 240-pound behemoth, with length and athleticism. You’re probably picturing a player who can shoot, pass, dribble and defend the other team’s best wing. A player who can rebound and get out in trans...26186Mon, 23 Nov 2020 15:00:56 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/jaden-mcdaniels-is-the-timberwolves-michael-porter-jr-r26185/In comparing the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Denver Nuggets, Nikola Jokic is to Karl-Anthony Towns as D’Angelo Russell is to Jamal Murray as Josh Okogie is to… okay, maybe that’s as far as the comparisons go. But Denver and Minnesota are two mid-market teams who depend on drafting well and patie...26185Fri, 20 Nov 2020 14:30:55 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/the-wolves-have-too-many-guards-and-not-enough-shooters-r26184/The Minnesota Timberwolves left Wednesday’s draft with a lot of roster churn beneath the scenes, though they only added one veteran player. While almost all Wolves fans are happy to see Ricky Rubio return (myself included), the move is actually a very surprising one, and it will have implications...26184Fri, 20 Nov 2020 06:30:24 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/chelanga-and-dylans-2020-nba-draft-best-and-worst-dressed-list-r26183/Dylan Carlson co-wrote this piece. It’s that time of year! Wait it’s five months after that time of year, but it’s finally time for us to truly evaluate this draft class. In one short month, we will get to the basketball. But for now, we focus on the most important part of Draft Night — the fashi...26183Thu, 19 Nov 2020 16:30:15 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/well-the-wolves-took-anthony-edwards-r26181/The Minnesota Timberwolves stood pat and took Anthony Edwards out of Georgia with the No. 1 overall pick. There are so many questions, so let’s just try to tackle these from order of most important, to least important: Is Edwards going to be a star? Probably not. The track record for guys who a...26181Thu, 19 Nov 2020 16:15:41 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/the-case-for-isaac-okoro-r26180/The Minnesota Timberwolves have the No.1 overall pick in this year’s draft, and we’ve all been wondering what exactly Gersson Rosas intends to do with the pick. Does he pick a player? Can he possibly trade the pick for a player who can help the Wolves more immediately? Nobody knows. The Wolves are...26180Tue, 17 Nov 2020 15:00:57 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/tyrese-haliburton-the-timberwolves-moneyball-pick-r26179/Beane’s mantra was, “We’re not selling jeans here.” The longtime general manager of the Oakland Athletics and Moneyball protagonist is credited with pioneering an analytical management style that would give rise to the trans-sport numbers revolutional. Maybe he’s worth it, maybe he’s not. A year ago this time, Edwards was the buzz of the 2020 NBA Draft class. Though ESPN had him ranked fourth in their final recruiting rankings, the 6’5” Edwards provided that tantalizing allure of an athletic, scoring wi...26177Fri, 13 Nov 2020 06:30:30 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/james-wiseman-great-player-not-a-great-fit-for-the-timberwolves-r26176/Anybody who claims to know exactly what James Wiseman’s NBA future will look like is trying to sell you something. Wiseman, the athletic seven-footer who sat atop ESPN’s recruit rankings for the 2019 class, was supposed to make the University of Memphis appointment viewing during the 2019-20 seas...26176Wed, 11 Nov 2020 15:00:08 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/dr-chelangas-timberwolves-fan-therapy-session-dealing-with-loss-r26175/First, I want to be clear: I am not a real doctor. Secondly, mental health is very serious. I recommend that anyone who has the means, seeks therapy, it’s changed my life. That being said, I’m happy to act as your conduit into the world of mental health through the lens of a Timberwolves fan. It’s easy to overreact and assume that a star player is leaving Minnesota, especially in the NBA. We’ve been there before with Kevin Garnett, Kevin Love and Jimmy Butler. I’m not trying to incite panic, but you should know that the New York Knicks front office...26173Mon, 02 Nov 2020 06:30:58 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/lamelo-balls-boom-or-bust-potential-r26172/I have two memories of watching Adam Dunn, 14-year Major League Baseball veteran, play for my hometown Chicago White Sox. The first time was in 2012, and the 6’6”, 285-pound Dunn cranked one of his 462 career home runs about 440-some feet out of right-center field. Before the at-bat, the opposing...26172Wed, 28 Oct 2020 10:30:05 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/what-the-wolves-cant-shouldnt-and-definitely-shouldnt-do-with-the-no-1-pick-r26171/When the Timberwolves won the lottery this year I was ecstatic. The moment Mark Tatum flipped that final card and revealed our Wolves, I leapt out of my seat and did a dance that looked something like this: As time passed, my enthusiasm waned as I thought about Timberwolves draft history. Two things have been clear in the six years since that trade: First, five...26169Wed, 21 Oct 2020 06:30:29 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/the-wolves-cant-rule-out-a-towns-trade-until-his-defense-improves-r26167/In April of 2015 Sports Illustrated’s Phil Taylor weighed in on the biggest NBA Draft storyline at the time: Should Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor go No. 1 overall? “Okafor might make a more immediate impact,” he wrote, “but winning teams have big men who can provide solid interior defense a...26167Wed, 14 Oct 2020 06:30:56 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/how-did-the-wolves-get-here-and-where-exactly-are-they-going-r26165/To land the first overall pick in any draft, a lot has to go wrong. A 19-45 record would signal the beginning of a complete teardown and rebuild for most teams. The Minnesota Timberwolves brass jumped the gun on that measure in February, but in a pretty unorthodox way. Instead of trading away pla...26165Thu, 08 Oct 2020 06:30:10 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/jimmy-butler-was-right-and-its-time-for-minnesota-to-accept-that-r26164/Whoopsie-daisey. We’ve been down this road before, Timberwolves fans. Instead of recognizing Jimmy Butler for being the franchise-overhaul enforcer that the Minnesota Timberwolves so desperately needed and traded for back in June of 2017, we all were enamored with enabling youthful potential that...26164Wed, 07 Oct 2020 13:00:07 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/the-nbas-top-15-teams-for-the-next-five-years-r26161/Someone approaches you. For some reason, you’re both in a desert. This person, visibly thirsty, yells: “TELL ME ABOUT THE NBA! I NEED TO KNOW!” Well, this is convenient because if you know anything, it’s the NBA. You’re not great with relationships or directions (which is why you’re in a desert...26161Tue, 22 Sep 2020 06:40:33 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/if-the-minnesota-timberwolves-land-a-star-with-the-no-1-overall-pick-and-sell-to-kevin-garnett-anything-is-possible-r26156/The Minnesota Timberwolves did it. Nobody believed in them. Some said it wasn’t possible. Not you. You believed. We believed! After never moving up in the lottery in team history (which is saying something!), the Timberwolves secured the No. 1 pick on Thursday night. To say Minnesota moved up...26156Fri, 21 Aug 2020 08:45:12 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/the-history-of-the-minnesota-timberwolves-having-multiple-first-round-picks-isnt-great-r26154/With the Brooklyn Nets clinching a playoff spot in the bubble, the Minnesota Timberwolves have secured two first-round picks. One pick will be their own (it will land 1-7), while Minnesota acquired Brooklyn’s lottery protected pick at the trade deadline in the Robert Covington/Malik Beasley trade...26154Tue, 11 Aug 2020 06:45:19 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/here-are-your-2019-20-minnesota-timberwolves-season-awards-r26153/As the NBA started back up late last week, there have been a lot of conversations about NBA awards. Of course, play in the bubble doesn’t count in the award-giving process which doesn’t make much sense to me. If LeBron can lead the Lakers to a 7-1 record and average 30 points per game while Giann...26153Tue, 04 Aug 2020 06:45:10 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/so-what-if-glen-taylor-doesnt-sell-the-minnesota-timberwolves-to-kevin-garnett-r26152/Reports surfaced last week that Glen Taylor is actively shopping the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. The news probably shouldn’t come as a surprise. Taylor isn’t a young 79 years old. We’re also in the middle of a global pandemic where sports have become an afterthought for most people. I under...26152Tue, 28 Jul 2020 06:45:19 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/what-will-the-minnesota-timberwolves-do-if-they-get-the-no-1-pick-r26150/As I write this, there is a man working on our air conditioner and someone on Facebook Marketplace is messaging me about a “vintage door” that I’m selling for $25. Spoiler alert: I don’t actually think it’s a vintage door! I just think it’s a normal door that has had better days. Welcome to owni...26150Tue, 21 Jul 2020 06:40:37 +0000https://wolvesdaily.com/news-rumors/timberwolves-features/5-things-to-watch-as-the-nba-starts-back-up-in-the-bubble-r26149/The NBA season is set to tip back off in Orlando later this month. We’ll see what happens between now and then. We’ve already seen two MLS teams drop out of its “MLS Is Back” tournament due to COVID-19 concerns. As I’m writing this, Russell Westbrook just announced he’s tested positive. But as is customary for the Timberwolves, they are looking ahead to the NBA Draft. And this year, the fate of a potential first-round pick for Minnesota hinges on t...26147Wed, 08 Jul 2020 06:30:34 +0000
