So the Angels finally picked themselves off the mat and won a game after the trade deadline. Of course it wasn’t easy with the bullpen giving up a couple runs, which has been the biggest weakness of this LA team for most of the summer. But it’s not Shohei Ohtani’s fault, and he’s who I’m counting on for this bet as I look to avoid that bullpen entirely.
After a few very un-Shohei like starts, the guaranteed MVP has thrown consecutive scoreless outings. I’m expecting Ohtani to keep that up here against a Giants team that is very unimpressive versus right-handed pitching. It’s tough to know what the Angels offense will face as the Giants throw a bullpen game here, but their offense has not been the problem either. The market still dislikes LA because of that 7-game slide, resulting in short numbers like this to back the best player on the planet, so I’m jumping in.
