MLB (0.5 Unit) SF Giants First 5 Innings ML @ LA Dodgers (+105): 9:00 PM CT on ESPN
It’s tough to bet against the Dodgers at home or at all, really, especially with them ending the first half of the season on a 15-2 tear. But the Giants pulled themselves out of a slump before the break too, and have a key weapon here in Carlos Rodón.
The San Fran ace has been excellent at holding opponents down this season, allowing more than 2 runs just once in his past 9 starts. He’s also excellent when facing the Dodgers. Their lineup has a career .080 average and .356 OPS against him, plus just a .122 on-base average in two meetings this season. The Dodgers just don’t hit left-handers that well, especially elite lefties like Rodón.
And LA will be giving another start to Mitch White here as part of their patchwork rotation, and he’s fresh off getting shelled by St. Louis. If the Giants can get a run or two across against White, then Rodon should do his part. But he only averages just under 6 innings per start, and the Dodgers tend to do a lot of damage late, so target this F5 number tonight.
