Consistency is nearly impossible to find across the All-Star games of most pro sports. The scrimmage-type atmosphere that you get in the NBA or NFL tends to do that, with players showing off for most of the game. So that’s why the consistency of baseball’s Midsummer Classic is even more shocking, with the American League winning 8 straight and posting a 20-3-1 record in the past 24 games.

So getting them as a slight underdog here certainly looks like the value play, and I definitely see them as live to make it 9 straight. I really think the injury replacements have had a bigger impact on the National League here. That’s especially true of their pitchers, as Corbin Burnes, Carlos Rodón, and Max Fried will not play tonight. A stacked and healthier AL lineup should be able to get to the replacement pitchers for a couple of runs and extend their winning streak.

Bonus Bet (0.25 Unit): AL/NL under 7.5 (-110)

Speaking of consistency, the under has cashed in 12 of the past 15 All-Star games. It would seem the old adage of great pitching beating great hitting holds true at this highest level of greatness. Those past 15 All-Star games have seen an average of 6.8 runs scored, and only 2018’s extra innings game saw double-digit runs. Pitching has simply been the name of the game in this contest, and tonight should see another low-scoring affair.
