MLB (0.5 Unit) Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 @ Texas Rangers (-110): 7:05 PM CT
What better way to celebrate Memorial Day than with America’s pastime? Tampa Bay is one persistent group on a low payroll. Big surprise right? But this pick is more about how little I respect the Rangers. Not only are the Rangers the inferior team here, their pitching matchup largely favors Tampa Bay as well.
Glenn Otto is on the mound for Texas sporting a 1.40 WHIP and an ERA over 5.00 so far this year which will simply not get it done. On the other hand, Drew Rasmussen for the Rays is coming in with a WHIP of under 1. That’s impressive through 43 innings. Although it’s a small sample size, I think the combination of the favorable pitching matchup and a superior lineup is worth laying a run and a half in favor of the Rays today for a small play.
