    Degenerates

MLB Toronto Blue Jays/NY Yankees Under 4.5 First 5 Innings (-110): 6:05 PM CT on MLB Network

First off, a quick reminder and public service announcement that I will never take the full-game under in Major League Baseball. It’s just not worth the possibility of bullpen implosions, or extra innings with the runner on second rule all but guaranteeing plenty of scoring. So instead I’m always looking for quality starting pitcher matchups that will limit scoring while they’re most likely to be in the game.

That’s what I’m seeing here, with Kevin Gausman for Toronto and Luis Severino for New York likely able to contain even these stacked lineups. This bet would have cashed in the first two games of this series, and possibly last night if Vladimir Guerrero Jr.hadn’t crushed a trio of homers.

But he and Teoscar Hernandez were both injured last night and might not be available to help power the Blue Jay offense tonight. It’s not like the Yankees are tearing the cover off the ball either though, batting just .231 to start the season. So with two strong starters and questions surrounding both offenses, I’ll look for this one to stay low-scoring early.

Tiny Nick is 682-550 ATS (+82.9 Units) on his Locks since joining Zone Coverage.

Every day he will offer his Locks and Degenerate picks. Locks are the games he’s confident in. Degenerates are entertaining but riskier picks.
