Locks
NBA (0.75 Unit) New Orleans Pelicans/Memphis Grizzlies Over 229 (-110): 5:00 PM CT on NBATV
This game doesn’t matter. Well, it matters for us bettors, but these teams are locked into their respective playoff positions so this might as well be a scrimmage. I suspect then that we’ll see a pickup-style game here, with limited defensive effort and plenty of scoring. The Grizzlies have already started mailing it in on the defensive end to close the season, allowing 120-plus in consecutive games. The Pelicans are not shy about taking advantage of weak defense and running it up, so I’m expecting a big offensive output from them.
This total has actually come down on news that Brandon Ingram might be out for New Orleans. But that really doesn’t concern me, as the more backups the better in my opinion. Games featuring lots of reserves have shown that pickup style throughout the season, plus the one meeting Ingram missed this season saw 243 points scored between these squads. I’m going to trust that this meaningless game is just a showcase for offensive highlights, especially being on NBATV, so I’ll take a shot on the over here.
