NBA (0.75 Unit) Chicago Bulls @ Miami Heat -4 (-110): 6:30 PM CT on Bally Sports SUN
I don’t think it’s getting enough attention that the Chicago Bulls are a paper tiger. They might be just a game behind this Miami Heat team for first in the East, but they really struggle against their fellow top squads. The Bulls have played 20 games this season against the top four teams from both conferences, and are just 6-14 straight up. That includes two losses to the Heat – one of them in blowout fashion – where they also failed to cover the spread.
Chicago is also just 5-8 ATS as a road underdog, so when they visit those top teams, they tend to lose both straight up and against the number. The Heat just present a tough matchup for the Bulls, with excellent perimeter defense and an interior presence in Bam Adebayo that Chicago has no answer for. And you can be sure Jimmy Butler marks these games on his calendar with the intention of making a statement. That should lead to Chicago continuing their road woes against top teams here as Miami gets another comfortable win.
Bonus Bet (0.25 Unit): DeMar DeRozan Over 29.5 Points (-110)
Even though it’s the Heat and their strong defense, you just can’t sit out these DeRozan point props right now. DeRozan struggled early on Saturday, starting the game ice cold, but still finished with 31 points. The streak has to end eventually, but with 10 straight over this number, you might as well keep enjoying the ride until then.
NCAA Basketball (0.5 Unit) San Diego St. @ Wyoming +2 (-110): 8:00 PM CT on CBSSN
San Diego State is playing some of the best basketball in the Mountain West right now, winners in 7 of their past 9 games. But they’ve benefited from a favorable schedule over that stretch, and tonight have an extremely difficult matchup.
This is a rescheduled game from last month, and it is forcing the Aztecs into long travel to elevation after a lot of travel last week. The road is where SDSU has struggled the most this season, while Wyoming has been at its best on its home floor. The Cowboys are undefeated in Laramie, taking down all of the other Mountain West contenders throughout the season.
Despite Wyoming owning that perfect home record in addition to an 8-2 ATS record as an underdog, the books continue to misprice this team. That’s what I see with this number in a game the Cowboys are definitely live to win. They have scoring ability that SDSU struggles with on the road, plus the athleticism on the perimeter to slow down Matt Bradley who is the lone scoring threat for the Aztecs. With both teams playing a lot of tight games against the top teams in the MWC, I’ll take 2 points of insurance with a Cowboys team I expect to stay perfect at home.
