MLB Arizona Diamondbacks/Milwaukee Brewers Over 8 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 6:00 PM CT on ESPN2
Playoff baseball is generally a time where the lowest-scoring games of the year happen. Pitching matchups are carefully crafted to make every out count, so defenses typically have the advantage. But it also creates extremely low totals that are easy to clear with the right situation, and I see that here. Overs were actually the theme of last year’s wild card round, so there’s precedent to believe it will continue this season.
With the Diamondbacks starting Brandon Pfaadt against a Brewers lineup that’s really good versus righties, things could get out of hand fast. Arizona could easily pack it in and trot out poor bullpen arms in that case, especially going up against Corbin Burnes. But the Milwaukee ace hasn’t been that dominant this season, and gave up 7 runs across 2 starts against the Snakes this year. Strangely enough, I trust both offenses more than I do the starters just in general for this game, so I’ll go with the over tonight.
