Craig Sager, who covered a wide array of sports for Turner since 1981, passed away at age 65 yesterday. Best-known for his work as a sideline reporter for TNT during NBA broadcasts, Sager was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame this year and his impact was felt throughout the basketball world.
“I am truly saddened by the news of the passing of one of the NBA’s great personalities in Craig Sager," said Minnesota Timberwolves head coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau. "I always enjoyed our interactions together and, like many, looked forward to seeing what particular suit he had on that given night.
"I will remember Craig for his infectious smile, his will and determination and the upbeat spirit he lived his life with every day. We will forever be Sager Strong. On behalf of the Minnesota Timberwolves, our thoughts and prayers are with the Sager family during this difficult time.”
Kevin Garnett, who famously razzed Sager for his outrageous suits, also offered his condolences.
