The Minnesota Vikings cut ties with their longest-tenured player Saturday morning, releasing defensive end Brian Robison per various news reports.
Robison was brought back on a reduced salary for the 2018 season, but with a defensive line stacked with young talent, the Vikings were forced to move on from one of their emotional leaders, saving just over $1 million in the process.
Minnesota drafted Robison in 2007, and he made an instant impact, starting five games as a rookie. He went on to start 103 games in his career and recorded 60 sacks. The Vikings made the playoffs five times is his time with the team.
Everson Griffen and Marcus Sherels are now the Vikings' longest-tenured members.
