After an exciting overtime win against Penn State that snapped a three-game losing streak, the Minnesota Golden Gophers dropped a road game to the Maryland Terrapins Thursday night which they led in the second half.
Jordan Murphy, Nate Mason, Jamir Harris and Davonte Fitzgerald all scored in double figures for the Gophers, but it wasn't enough as Maryland outshot Minnesota 56 percent to 36 percent from the field and blew past them with an 18-2 second half run.
Believe it or not, Minnesota (14-7, 3-5) was in the same position in the Big Ten standings a year ago -- and actually dropped to 3-6 -- before rattling off eight wins in a row late in the season.
These Gophers, however, are still without Amir Coffey (shoulder) and Reggie Lynch (suspension).
They play Ohio State at Madison Square Garden on Saturday after just one day of rest.
