Brian Dozier homered twice and Kyle Gibson gave up only five hits and no runs in 7.0 innings, picking up his first win of the season in a 4-0 shutout of the Chicago White Sox.
“I don’t worry about [personal] wins,” Gibson told the Star Tribune. “For me, it’s keeping the team in the game, and I was able to put up some zeros.”
Dozier hit a solo shot off of Jose Quintana in the second and then a three-run homer off of the Sox starter in the sixth, providing all of the Twins scoring on Wednesday night.
"I think he's just slowing himself down and getting a better look at the baseball," Twins manager Paul Molitor told The Associated Press. "I think he's executing plans a little bit better and when he gets mistakes, he's taking advantage."
Dozier is now tied with Byung-ho Park for the team lead in home runs with 12. It was the third consecutive game in which Dozier had homered, and his ninth-straight game with an extra-base hit.
“I’ve been feeling pretty good for a while,” Dozier told the Star Tribune, “so I guess some of those bleeders keep falling in.”
