  • 2018 MSHSL Girls Hockey Tournament Recap: Day 3 - Class A & AA Semifinals

    Guest Giles Ferrell

Semifinal Friday is always an exciting one! Let's see the results!

    Class A Semifinals

    No. 2 Breck 6, Proctor/Hermantown 0

Five Mustangs players had at least two points, with three of them -- Luci McGlynn, Olivia Mobley and Emily Zumwinkle -- having three-point games. Goaltender Uma Corniea only needed to make nine saves in this one, as she stopped all of them to keep the clean sheet and help send Breck to Saturday's Class A Final.

    No. 1 Warroad 7, Alexandria 1

The Cardinals opened the scoring in the first period, but Warroad answered with seven unanswered to take the win and head to Saturday's final. Genevieve Hendrickson, Kaitlyn Kotlowski and Hannah Corneliusen had two goals each to lead the top-ranked Warriors, while Quinn Kuntz made all 12 saves.

    Class AA Semifinals

    No. 2 Centennial 6, Eagan 1

It was the Gabbie Hughes' show as she registered four goals and an assist in the 6-1 over Eagan. Hughes' linemate, Anneke Linser, added four points herself in what was a banner night for the dynamic duo. With this win, Centennial advances to the state title game for the first time in school history.

    No. 1 Edina 4, No. 5 Eden Prairie 2

Alexa Dobchuk made 43 saves to keep Eden Prairie in the game, but Edina proved to be too tough as it was able to pull out the win in Friday's finale. Edina had four goal-scorers in the win, as it looks to win its second consecutive state title on Saturday night.

    Class AA Consolation

    Lakeville South 4, No. 3 Hill-Murray 1

    Andover 4, Brainerd 3 OT
