  • As many Purple FTW! listeners know, I only do one mock draft a year. Mostly due to my lack of expertise and the rest is due to apathy, but it's Draft week! And as Rick Spielman prepares to be the stone cold boss of the Vikings War Room (probably with one-handed pushups), I offer these humble suggestions for potential prospects straight from my weak and feeble fan brain.

Picks are listed below on the Slideshow!

    Andy,

I love the show - I do a bunch a traveling and it makes the time go by a little quicker.

You have really good guests and insights...except that Zimmer will not pick any DB's or Safeties under 6 feet tall :) There are a few things I want to mention, please do take these to heart as they are just suggestions from a guy that has done some radio in the past.

From what I have heard you want to make a career out of Broadcasting. Try to keep your voice cadence consistent. Typically professional broadcasters will start their cadence low and bring it up to consistent level throughout the sentence and bring it back down to where they started - this is very easy to understand and sounds professional. Occasionally you will go up and down and up and down with your cadence in one sentence which makes it difficult to understand the statement. You tend to accentuate the word AND in the middle of the sentence and start a radio voice that you don't need. The best broadcasters speak like they are having a conversation with their audience...which is really tough to do. You have a ton of talent and you do get their occasionally which is a good sign - but no one wants to hear a guy doing a radio voice in talk radio, leave that to the DJs. Regardless of how you feel about Howard Stern you should listen to the way to speaks, Dan Patrick is another guy that speaks in perfect cadence and you feel like they are talking directly to you.

Also you have this nervous habit of saying 'yeah its good' when you run out of things to say regarding the point you are on. Don't do that :) it makes you sound nervous and unsure of yourself.

Again you have a ton of talent and are doing the right thing by getting in your 10,000 hours, just try to perfect your craft and you will be on the radio in no time. Don't take these as criticisms please, I know how tough this business is I had the same cadence issues for years but eventually worked it out.

Love the Show, keep up the good work

    Matt

This would be the best draft ever all of the Vikings needs are addressed and if Jaylon Smith is healthy he would be the steal of the draft he can do it all. Other than that I would really like Myles Jack if he drops in the draft because he could play safety in the nickel or dime package and excel also he could potentially play the slot in the NFL
