NBA (0.75 Unit) Philadelphia 76ers -4 @ Washington Wizards (-110; Odds via Fanduel): 6:00 PM CT on MNMT

This spread has moved significantly in favor of Philadelphia with the expectation that we could see the return of Joel Embiid and/or Paul George tonight. But what if the Sixers are just plain good? I looked at this game initially without paying attention to the injury report and saw a Philly team that’s playing exceptionally well without their two big name stars.

The Sixers have looked really good with just Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe leading the way, and honestly they’d probably be enough to take down a bad Wizards squad. So if the rumors are true that one or both of the oft-injured stars are coming back tonight, that’s just reinforcements for an already good team that can cover this fairly cheap number.

NBA (0.5 Unit) Charlotte Hornets/Miami Heat Over 241 (-110; Odds via Fanduel): 6:30 PM CT on Fanduel Sports SUN

Who wants the under in a Heat game right now? Not me after they’ve started the season averaging 127.3 PPG against some solid defensive opponents. Better yet, who wants the under in a Hornets game right now? Hard pass on that as well with their three games so far averaging 250.3 points. Charlotte has taken advantage of a weak schedule for sure, but have also allowed a lot of points to those weak opponents.

Miami and their newfound rocket ship of an offense should have no trouble exploiting that defense. But this Hornets team is sneaky good in my opinion, with a great mix of speed and shooting that can have a big night offensively against anyone. So their style will be a big driver in getting this over one of the highest totals of the young season, but since smart money pushed the number through the artificial ceiling of 240 points, I trust that we’ll see fireworks here.
