This is a very favorable situation for the Twins, and I expect them to take advantage. Minnesota is catching the Athletics in a good Malinsky Special spot tonight as they return to Sacramento from playing on the east coast yesterday. The Twins have been on the west coast already though, and should be prepared for this game with one of their best pitchers going.

Joe Ryan has been particularly dominant on the road this season, and puts the A’s in their poor hitting split as a righty. I also think Minnesota’s bats will get to Luis Severino pretty easily, as the fly ball pitcher continues to struggle in the minor league park with a 6.20 ERA. There’s a big wind blowing out of that little park tonight to help the Twins beat up on Severino, and I think it results in a solid lead after 5 innings where they have the clear edge.

I’ve been fooled twice by German Marquez in his past two starts, so shame on me. But this Rockies team continues to be historically bad at 9-50 now, and I refuse to believe there’s anything close to a bright spot for them in the form of Marquez. I’m looking at road numbers of a 9.42 ERA, a 1.89 WHIP, and a .346 opponent on-base average for Marquez and simply trusting that things are going to blow up for him again soon. The Marlins can hit, especially against righties, and have been one of the best over bets in general this season, so I’m confident in them against Marquez and an awful bullpen tonight.
