Packers Reportedly Won't Re-Sign Key Offensive Piece

The good news for the Green Bay Packers entering free agency is that most of its core is under contract and set to return in 2025.

Still, the nature of the beast always wins out. Every team has some free agents they must make a decision about.

For the Packers, center Josh Myers was the key name to watch as free agency began. According to one report, he won't be back in Green Bay.

Bill Huber of SI.com has covered the Packers for a long time. On Monday, Huber reported that Myers won't be back in the green and gold.

Myers is coming off arguably his best season and avoided disaster in Green Bay's playoff loss when it appeared he suffered a gruesome leg injury at the end of the game. However, the injury was not nearly as bad as initially feared, which would've put a big dent in Myers' free agency.

Therefore, it's not completely surprising to see a report surface stating the Packers will be moving on.

Gutekunst typically doesn't speak in absolutes. Still, in that same presser, he mentioned the want to keep linebacker Quay Walker in the fold for years to come.

There are in-house candidates like Elgton Jenkins, Jacob Monk, and Sean Rhyan who could slide over to center. Zach Tom technically could. However, moving him from right tackle, where he's dominated, would be foolish.

The draft is always an option. Green Bay has always been smitten with taking offensive linemen in past drafts.

Free agency seems like a stretch, considering the Packers could've just re-inked Myers if they wanted to address it. Top center Drew Dalman is also already off the board, having agreed to a deal with the Chicago Bears.

We'll see where Green Bay turns to center. Still, it has plenty of solid options in-house if that's the road they take with Myers set to end up elsewhere.
