Times are currently tumultuous in Green Bay. The team is 2-5 and fan favorite Rasul Douglas is out the door to the bewilderment of the fan base and Douglas himself.
While most expected bumps in the road in Jordan Love’s first season, not many expected the disaster the team has put on the field thus far. Barely competitive performances topped off by an embarrassing loss to the Denver Broncos have fans and media alike looking for answers.
Former Packer, James Jones, believes at least one of those answers lies with the head coach's approach. While appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Fox Sports, the former Super Bowl champion took aim at Lafleur's play calling while discussing Love’s performance.
It’s hard to argue with Jones. There are a lot of things not working in Green Bay, but the coach keeping consistent training wheels on Love is certainly high on the list. Even if the season is lost the organization needs to know what they have in Love and protecting him is doing no favors to anyone, including the quarterback himself. Hopefully over the next 10 games we get a chance to see what Love is truly capable of. Even if that ends up being less than Packer fans hope, at least we have some answers on the future of the position.
